Hump-day Hoo-ray!

Ok well its obvs (apparently a new slang..since when?) I like a little alliteration (see what I did there?). So 'hump-day'  (the camels hump of the middle of the week) is today, Wednesday. It is a day we often need a lil boost to get us through to the w/e. So I thought what better than to find something awesomely good and inspiring and say hoo-ray! Today I thought what better place to start than my go to good pages of Peppermint magazine. I came across this magazine a few years back on a creative exploratory wander along Ponsonby rd, & I ducked inside Magnation.

Since then, I don't think anything has ever compared to bring me such joy, such love for good things and good people, such motivation to own my own lifetime. It has been a real kick up the butt to really believe dreams can be a reality. Not only is this mag printed on awesome "pagey" crisp matte pages, its carben neutral so its guilt free magazine-ing, and they always donate a portion of their sales to a good cause. Covered inch by inch with little pockets of good tips. good products, good people making things/fair trading things. Inspiring stories from all over the globe, like the 'super role models' - hot ppl who do blimmen hot things for our earth! I make sure I read every single bit.
I actually feel full sometimes reading it. So much to absorb. I am like a sponge with this thing, dog earing pages to refer back to later with the lappy, making notes, brainstorming as I go along. Ensuring to take stock of what i'm actually learning and including a few pensive moments staring out the window. Its bliss really. Pretty fashion spreads, eco design, tear jerking stories, recycling ideas the lot! (even a naughty corner too)
They also have a sewing school section where you can download free patterns. This issue's jacket with a tassle is mucho my cup of tea. Im hoping to make it soon. I think I will use another blanket (surely you can never have too many blanket jackets they're just so warm & cosy, not to mention colourful and fun). Perhaps you might like to make one too? Get in touch if you do, I would happily arrange a social sewing day!
So hoo-ray to Peppermint - thank you for existing! and thank you for the last few years of endless humungus inspiration. I cannot recommend enough, go get your paws on the latest issue asap! Have you read a peppermint or two? What did you think? Do you find it as inspiring as I? Have you made any of their sewing school patterns yet? ...questions galore I know, it just would be nice to see if their is anyone on the other side... So, woop! Here's to the first hoo-ray & getting things a tad more organised with some regular re-occuring themed posts, do readers like that sort of thing? I do anyway on the blogs that I follow...who's gonna be worthy of a hoo-ray next week hmm? Stay tuned...& use your bloglovin'

  1. I used to buy Peppermint magazine all the time when I lived in Perth, one of the girls I used to sew with designed the earlier Pattern School patterns. I loved reading it too but I can't find it here in Wellington :(
